Kavalkinaru has its foundations in the early Dravidian Civilization, and its set of experiences can be followed from the mid-seventeenth century (around 1698 A.D.). This area was overwhelmingly controlled by the glorious Pandyan Dynasty, as their realm was set up from the south of the Kaveri River till Kanyakumari. The name was derived from a well that provided fresh water to the officers of the Cheras, Cholas, and Pandiyas Kingdoms, which are still protected in the town. Christianity is the principle religion of the people of Kavalkinaru. Catholicism gradually began to take its foundations consistently during the British principles (1698 A.D.). Many acknowledged Christianity as their religion. Around 1749 A.D., a small Catholic church was generously worked by the locals to provide Eucharistic Services on a weekly basis. Later in 1843 A.D., the Sacred Heart Church was fabricated, and afterward, it was proclaimed as a different ward by the Tuticorin Diocese. This was followed by setting up a grade school in 1897; this school helped in teaching the offspring of Kavalkinaru. As days passed, with the beginning of current instruction and creative headway, the way of life in Kavalkinaru continued expanding, and people began rehearsing a few distinct occupations.
