Kavalkinaru is a town panchayat in the Tirunelveli region of Tamil Nadu. It is located 24 kilometers (15 miles) from Nagercoil, 69 kilometers (43 miles) from Tirunelveli, and 99 kilometers from Trivandrum International Airport. The nearest port, Tuticorin Port Trust (in any case, called V.O. Chidambaram Port), is 111 km from Kavalkinaru. The authentic setting of the town can be traced back to the mid-seventeenth century (around 1698 A.D.), when the region was dominantly managed by the Pandyan Dynasty.
